Russian T-90M damaged in drone attacks showcased by Russians

Recently, Russian state media shared a video featuring a damaged T-90M tank that had been attacked by Ukrainian first-person view (FPV) drones. The footage displayed the extensive damage sustained by the tank, which had been directly hit by the Ukrainian FPV kamikaze drone. The video showed the T-90M tank with visible damage to its protective elements, particularly the overhead metal screen known as a “cope cage,” which appeared to have an additional layer of Kontakt-1 explosive reactive armor (ERA) bricks on top. The impact area on the tank’s protective canopy was highlighted, and it was evident that some of the protective ERA blocks had detonated, resulting in deformation of the protective canopy and damage to the rear of the tank’s turret. Despite the attack, Russian journalists noted that the tank remained intact. The damaged tank was subsequently evacuated from the battlefield for repairs. The video emphasized that Russian tanks frequently encounter challenges on the battlefield and are often targeted by Ukrainian anti-tank weapons, including kamikaze drones and ATGMs (anti-tank guided missiles).
